You’re invited to join our online pie-making class, Home Economics 111: American Pie, which will take place throughout the month of October 2019.
We’ll learn about the history of pies in America, learn the best way to make pie crust from scratch, look at pies in popular culture, and check out modern pie making trends. We’ll also bake one pie per week as part of our delicious class homework. We’ll be exploring pies that immigrants brought from their home countries, holiday pies, pies of various American regions, and we’ll spend a bit of time learning about the importance of Apple pie to our American culture.
We will not have a textbook for this class, but you could pick up a pie cookbook from your local library. We’ll rely on a lot of Youtube videos and blog recipes for our coursework.
Visit our Home Economics 111 page for the course syllabus and updates, and join our American Pie Facebook group for discussions and chats.
Let’s get into our kitchens and bake up some autumn pies!
